Who you'll work with
Real people, not a call center.
Every owner works directly with the same small team, not whoever happens to pick up.
Brian Newman
Founder & Managing Director, Licensed Real Estate Broker
Built in Manhattan. Defined by precision. Driven by purpose.
For more than 25 years, Brian has guided NYC property owners toward stability and growth — revitalizing distressed assets, restoring compliance, and generating measurable returns across multifamily and mixed-use holdings.
Before founding Reliance Realty, he rose through the ranks at Heritage Realty, mastering acquisition strategy and asset repositioning. Today he oversees a portfolio of 35+ buildings and 1,200+ residents, combining direct, on-site management with the right technology to protect capital and grow value.
Under his direction, Reliance has resolved thousands of violations and recovered operating losses on assets other firms had written off — work built on the same principle every time: trust that's earned, not assumed.
“Discipline creates results, but partnership sustains them.”

Danny Newman
Property Management Associate
Danny Newman joined Reliance Realty full time after graduating from Penn State University in May 2025, following two summers interning with the company.
His time as an intern gave him hands-on experience with the day-to-day operations of New York City property management and an early understanding of the importance Reliance places on responsiveness, reliability, and clear communication.
Today, Danny works alongside the Reliance team assisting with day-to-day property operations and serving as a resource for both tenants and property owners. He takes pride in being someone clients and residents can depend on while continuing to learn the business and contribute to the high level of service Reliance has built its reputation on.

Amanda Schmieder
Director of Rentals and Sales
Amanda Schmieder Cummings is from Atlanta and has called New York home for over 21 years. She moved to the city after earning an M.F.A. in Acting from UC Irvine, and still brings that stage presence to how she navigates the market.
Her approach is straightforward and down-to-earth — hardworking, detail-oriented, and entirely focused on finding clients exactly what they need.

Chuck Newman
Rent-Stabilized Multifamily Strategy | Housing Programs & Portfolio Performance
Chuck Newman has been a key part of Reliance Realty since 2012, working with New York City owners and operators of rent-stabilized multifamily properties to improve income, occupancy, and operating performance. His approach is portfolio-driven rather than transaction-driven.
Over nearly 15 years, Chuck has developed a methodology for examining how rents, housing programs, leasing strategy, regulatory requirements, and operating processes interact across a property or portfolio — then identifying where friction, missed opportunities, or inefficient workflows are affecting performance. That methodology was developed and refined through housing voucher leasing: rather than beginning with an available apartment and working forward, Chuck reverse-engineered the traditional lease-up process and moved critical verification, coordination, and problem-solving upstream, where issues can often be addressed before they become delays, lost income, or failed transactions.
That same thinking now extends beyond individual placements. Chuck helps owners evaluate rent positioning, housing-program participation, unit strategy, lease-up execution, and operating processes at the portfolio level, where a seemingly modest improvement across dozens or hundreds of apartments can materially affect income, occupancy, and asset performance.
Chuck began his real estate career managing a 300-unit doorman building in Manhattan's Turtle Bay neighborhood, later expanding his work across Upper Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens. His experience spans traditional leasing, housing programs, complex problem-solving, and operating strategy for multifamily owners.
Chuck views these disciplines as parts of the same operating system rather than isolated transactions. "Sometimes the biggest opportunity isn't creating something new. It's seeing an existing system differently."
From Midtown luxury buildings to workforce housing near Columbia and Mount Sinai, Chuck brings the insight and execution needed to unlock hidden value.
“The apartment is often where the problem becomes visible. It is rarely where the problem began.”
